Zhonghai Mingcheng

Chengdu, China

Zhonghai Mingcheng

Chengdu, China

Chengdu, sometimes referred to as the "Window" in North West China, enjoys a tradition of open-air roadside leisure and hospitality culture. The design provides a modern interpretation of this tradition for the 413,000m² comprehensive development of 4,600 residential units on the 31-ha site. A pedestrianized three-quarter crescent of commercial and clubhouse activities organizes the different phases of development. Each phase will have its own flavour modelled after popular European localities as required by the design brief. The crescent may be extended to the adjoining site if it is under future development.
